Your hosts, John & Robin Trevaskis, run the Past Purr-fect Bed & Breakfast located at 216 N. Main Street, Jacobus in York County Pennsylvania. Take the old Susquehanna Trail south out of York and enjoy a leisurely ride through the country. The road twists and turns, up hill and down, past farmland and homes, lone trees and overhanging foliage. Soon the road crosses the narrow isthmus that helps define the hourglass shape of Lake Redman. Then up the steep hill and suddenly you're there--Jacobus, five miles south of York. |
Jacobus, Pennsylvania: The name conjures up an earlier day when folks worked hard, took pride in their faith, their politics and their abilities. Towns and villages were places to go for necessities, for medical help and for the rare bit of pleasure and leisure that work permitted. And lastly, the town was the place to which elderly farmers and prosperous businessmen retired. Jacobus met all those demands.
Sometime between 1869 and 1893 our Victorian style house was build by Frederick and Henrietta Emenheiser. Large flower gardens, a pond, and majestic trees lure guests to sit on the white wicker furniture in the screened-in porch.
Relax and enjoy an atmosphere of the past while partaking of present day luxuries. Our 100+ year old Victorian home features beautiful handcrafted oak floors and trims. Air conditioned bedrooms, offering both comfort and intimacy, are decorated in a variety of cat motifs.
